MAIN PURPOSE:
To glorify God in all we say and do (1
Corinthians 10:31)
BASIC PREMISE:
The Bible is our final authority and complete
revelation from God in written form,
sufficient in all matters of faith and
practice. It supersedes all matters and
agreements entered into by I.D.O.L. KING. (2
Timothy 3:14-17; Hebrews 1:1-3; Jude 3;
Revelation 22:18-19)
MAJOR OBJECTIVES:
I. To Glorify God in all we Say, Do,
and Believe
(1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:17)
(A) The primary means by which
we achieve this objective are:
(1) To discover
what the bible says regarding any given
subject in its entirety in order that we
may "know why we believe, what we
believe" and " . . . rightly
divide the word of truth"
(Acts 20:20,27; 2 Timothy
2:15)
(2) To discover how Jesus
responded in every given situation
(All the Gospels esp.
Mark)
(3) To discover how other
believers in the Old and New Testament
handled various situations that they
encountered
(The Entire Bible)
(4) To strive as a way of life
practicing speaking the truth in love
(Proverbs 16:21b,23,24;
Ephesians 4:15; Matthew 7:12)
(5) To strive not to speak or
teach hypocritically
(Matt. 7:1-5,12; Eph.
5:21)
(6) To strive to have our
relationships right with the Lord before
ministering
(Matt. 18:15-20)
II. To Worship and
Praise God our Father and His Son, Jesus
Christ our Lord
(Psalm 150:1-6; John 4:23-24; 9:35-38;
Hebrews 1:6; 13:15; Revelation 4:9-11;
5:11-14; 22:8-9)
(A) The primary means by which we achieve
this objective are:
(1) Prayer
(Acts 2:42;12:12;
Ephesians 6:18; Philippians 4:6,7;
Colossians 4:2; Timothy 2:1,8; Hebrews
4:14-16)
(2) Communion (the
Bread and the Cup)
(Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians
11:23-26)
(3) Music
(Psalm 89:1; 92:1-4;
95:1-2; 96:1-3,9; 98:1,4-6; 100:2;
146:1-2; 147:1,7; 150:3-6; Ephesians
5:18-20; Colossians 3:16; Revelation
5:8-10; 15:2-4)
(4) Giving
(Genesis 14:18-20; 28:22;
1 Chronicles 29:9-20; Proverbs 3:9-10; 1
Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8:1-5,
9-15; Philippians 4:10-20; 1 Timothy
6:17-19; Hebrews 13:15-16)
III. To Communicate
Clearly and Effectively the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, Preaching and Teaching it to All
Nations
(Matthew 28:19, 20; Mark 16:15,16; Acts
1:8;5:42; Romans 3:28; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11;
1 Timothy 1:15)
(A) We believe the Gospel to be the Jesus':
-
(1) Death
-
(Matthew 27:45-50;
Mark 15:33-37; Luke 23:44-46; John
19:28-30)
-
(2) Burial
-
(Matthew 27:57-66;
Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:50-55; John
19:38-42)
-
(3)
Resurrection
-
(Matthew 28:1-8; Mark
16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12; John 20:1-10)
(B) The means by which we
desire to achieve this objective are:
-
(1) To receive
training in and to encourage one
another to share our faith with our
non-believing friends and associates.
(Also, this includes the Essentials
of the Christian Faith - See
Statement of Doctrine)
-
(Matthew 4:19; Mark
3:14; Acts 1:8; 5:42; 8:1-4; 2
Timothy 2:2)
-
(2) To
publicly proclaim the gospel and
invite people to believe in Jesus
Christ as their Lord and Savior in
the various performances, meetings
and occasions where non-believers are
present
-
(Acts 2:14, 21,37-41;
3:11-12, 19; 4:5-12; 5:42; 8:5-8, 35,
40; 9:20;11:19-21;17:16- 17, 22,
30-34; 26:27-29; 28:30-31; 1
Corinthians 14:23-25; Ephesians
6:19-20; Philippians 1:12-14;
Colossians 4:3-6)
-
(3) To utilize
radio, television, tapes, written
publications and all other forms of
merchandising
-
(1 Corinthians
9:19-23; 1 Thessalonians 1:8)
